2012-13 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
As the demands for accountability from both the state and federal governments have increased, so have the requirements for districts to implement professional development that is aligned with goals for student performance. Thus, all GISD professional staff will be required to complete prescribed professional development trainings designed to foster data-driven decision-making focused on success for all students.
The required trainings include 2 days of CSCOPE training, 1 day of Instructional Technology training, and 1 day of teacher choice training. Professional staff members are expected to complete the prescribed trainings by August 15, 2012. Please see the attached documents below for approved trainings at Region IX and Graham ISD.
Upon returning to work in August, staff members will fill out the Summer Staff Development Credit Worksheet and attach all supporting documentation.
PLEASE NOTE:
CORE TEACHERS - Comp day trainings shall consist of 2 days of CSCOPE training, 1 day of Instructional Technology training, and 1 day of training of the teacher's choice. (2 comp days will be earned by staff members attending the CSCOPE conference).
COACHES WHO TEACH A CORE SUBJECT - Core teaching requirements apply. A coaching school/conference may be substituted for ONE day of training of the teacher's choice.
ELECTIVE TEACHERS - Comp days may be earned by attending summer workshops/conferences that are pertinent to their primary teaching assignment. Teachers must verify training selections with their principal before registering for the classes.
PARAPROFESSIONALS - TOPS training is required for Paraprofessionals who do not meet HQ requirements.
